Profile of David Blakey
David Blakey, Consultant specialising in Software and Firmware as embedded
system design and development. David specialises in Layer 1 Air Interfaces
for mobile radio applications for GSM with GPRS and EDGE, and 3G for UMTS
and CDMA 2000 applications. He has worked in the telecommunications field
for over 22 years. David's technical expertise and experience as both
a hardware design engineer and a DSP design engineer has equipped him
for problem solving and optimising solutions for complex system issues.
These advanced systems often require solutions using FPGA and DSP technology
leading to custom ASIC design and development with real time embedded
software. David has worked on numerous mobile base station systems for
major manufacturers in Europe and the USA from initial architecture to
final production. David is currently researching IP controlled GSM base
stations utilising GPRS for private (or public) networks applications
with "real working models". He attained his BSc in Electrical
Engineering at Salford University in the UK. His spare time is taken up
by family activities as well as a passion for classical motor vehicles
and photography.
